Bad Web Site, AT&T

If AT&T wants me to switch my cable services, AT&T’s web site should support my browser (Firefox 3)! They want me to use crappy IE. Last I checked browser usage, IE is down to around 55%, so that’s a lot of non-IE users they’re deterring. Please AT&T, implement web accessibility practices and use web standards! The customer must be able to use whatever web browser he chooses.

sweet jesus THIS. never mind if you’re working on, oh, i dunno, a mac! there are several aspects of my job that require internet explorer (like our timecard system) – how stupid. and what really sucks, too, is that some major websites (godaddy, i’m looking at you) won’t let you complete major transactions unless you’re using IE on a PC.

it’s just freakin’ laziness, plain and simple. if i can build a standards-compliant website, then backwards-engineer it to render correctly in IE 6, then major corporations with huge amounts of manpower could at least reciprocate.

I just accessed that site on Safari and got the same message. So basically what they are saying is that 53% of the population can piss off. Amazing.
